My exercise lesson has started today, and it feels great :) I'm simply too lazy to tone up at home, and paid lessons provide me the with structure to work out my body. Quoting my instructor, he says it's good for people to sign up for lessons and work-out together. There is some kind of positive dynamics generated.
Anyway, I signed up for for kick-boxing and ABT sculpt at a nearby Community Centre. ABT stands for Abs, Butt and Thigh. It's supposed to have a mixture of cardio and toning. Having attended other exercise lessons before, I've learnt that you reap what you sow... meaning the results is dependent on the effort you put in. I'm not suggesting that we over-exert ourself, but I love exercising because it allows me to challenge myself. For example, if I no longer feel the pain after doing 10 crunches, then I'll need to increase it to 15. This way, I'll have better results.
I guess we all have different expectations and hopes on what we want to get out from exercising. Ultimately, it's about what matters to you. I'm definitely looking foward to more fun in the sessions to come, and a toner body.
Beauty Drink using White Fungus
Posted in on 00:04 by Lala
Tired out from work... decided to let my pictures do the talking
I'm sharing on this 養顏 drink, which I first heard about from 牛爾老師. It's really simple to make.
Ingrdients:
White Fungus (1 big stalk aka1朵)
Wolfberry (a handful)
Red Dates (a handful)
Properties:
Drink is supposed to keep your skin moisturized (保濕) due to the white fungus. Red dates is to 補血, while wolfberry is good for the eyes :) In all, it's a simple drink to make, and a cheap alternative to bird nest. I simply dump all the ingredients into my slow cooker before I go to sleep. Use the auto setting, and it will be ready the next morning when I wake up. * I usually cook it for 6 hours*
Taste:
Reminds me of some collagen drink. The taste is very light, and I would drink this in place of water. Even my dear likes to drink this too :)
Other use:
I have also tried using the remaining liquid to apply on my face. Haha... was trying to see if it can act as a essence/mask. The texture is quite thick, a bit gooey too, but it spreads easy on the skin. I'll massage everything in till it's being absorbed, followed by a moisturizer.
I feel safe doing so, cos it's all natural. It feels gentle too (no prickly or uncomfortable feeling). However, I don't see much of a effect and have stopped using so. Recommend you drink it instead...

will soak white fungus first, and throw away the yellow core |
red dates to be cut in half/slitted so that the goodness can go into the drink |

Healthy Bread
Posted in on 01:00 by Lala
Feeling so blessed!! I was complaining to my dear how expensive the bread at Breadtalk is. And you know what? The next day, he drove me to get my favourite bread at Cafe Pralet. (Hee... I'm one lucky girl!!)
This cosy little place holds a lot of memories for me. I used to attend baking lessons at the school next door. Every time after lessons, I would pop to the cafe, buy some bread home... and that's where I chanced upon this special bread.
I called it the rainbow bread... because the beautiful colour never fails to cheer me up. Plus it's super healthy too. The colours are derived from vegetables - Beetroot, carrot and spinach. Such a big loaf only costs $3.50, and it's baked fresh each day.... meaning you won't be eating any artificial colouring or preservatives. You'll need to go at a certain time though (best in the afternoon) before it runs out...
This is how it looks like :)
This place is definitely worth a visit (especially for the health-conscious). They have other delicious bakes as well, such as their famous Pralet Cake. For a healthier alternative - you can choose to have the olive oil orange cake. Absolutely no feeling of guilt after eating it!

Review on Mask: 美肌之誌
Posted in on 14:36 by Lala
I love doing masks.. puts me into a sleeping mode :)
Here's one of the masks I tried recently: 美肌之誌(抗豆修護面膜)
I got it from Sasa, during the sale. It's for acne-prone skin, and it costs me only $1.95.
Key ingredients:
- Cucumber extract (calm the skin, relieve redness)
- Aloe vera (has moisture-locking property)
- Chamomile extract (to regulate the water and oil level of our skin)
After-thoughts from using it:
I was having very bad outbreaks on my chin... suspect it is could be due to dryness (probably from my facial some days back). I decided to try out this mask in the hope to soothe the skin.
In terms of it's design, The mask fitted fitted well on my face, and though I had pimples, there wasn't any stinging or discomfort from using it. When I removed the face, I massaged the remaining essence and it was easily absorbed into my face. Some mask had a gooey feel from the remaining essence, but for this mask, the essence is absorbed easily by the skin, and there's no sticky feeling at all.
I went to sleep happy, cos my pores appeared smaller, and the face looked glowy (in a healthy way). However, when I woke up the next morning, I realized it made my T-zone slightly oily.
Anyway, this is not an issue, as most moisturizing masks have this effect on me. Secretly, I've always wish that someone would invent a mask for combination skin - a design that allows me to moisturize the cheeks, yet regulate sebum control at the T-zone... Haiz... but till that day comes, this mask is good enough for now.
Overall, the mask is not bad - helps to moisture, without been too harsh for my acne-prone skin.
